We're curious about whether Open Source software is really better or
cheaper than what we're doing now.
We get it. Few change over Open Source platforms such as Linux,
Apache, or MySQL out of curiosity or sheer idealism. However, it
turns out the Open platforms really do provide greater value.
If you've read this far, you probably have some commercially-funded
whitepaper before you that says Linux, Apache, or what-have-you
isn't cheaper. The basic argument in that report makes sense, but
there's an awful lot of hand waving around the numbers. Rightly,
you'd like to hear both sides of the argument.
Truth be told, we're not interested in arguing. We're far more
