Platforms

We are convinced that open means more valuable. We select platforms for the solutions we provide based on these criteria:

  1. Are appropriate elements of the platform standardized by an independent standards body?
  2. Do we have enough access to the source code, protocols, and formats of the platform such that we can study the way the platform works, and fix problems ourselves?
  3. Is there an active community of users dedicated to the platform, not just because of the Wisdom of Crowds, but because it solves real problems? Is it just a fad, or will it still be here in 10 years?
  4. Is the platform robust and well-engineered? How does it compare to any realistic alternatives?
